Top Five Ways to Make it Through the Midday Slump
Ever find yourself sitting at your desk mid-afternoon, wondering where all of your energy went? Yeah, us too.
The midday slump is a common issue for many office workers; you’ve just come off of lunch, you’ve been sitting for most of the day, and you feel completely drained.
But don’t fear! There are many ways to make it through this part of your day, many of which have other added benefits as well. Here are our top five ways to make it through the midday slump:
1) Keep Hydrated
Drinking water is so important! Our bodies are primarily made up of water, so it only makes sense that keeping hydrated would reduce fatigue and keep you energized. Keep a water bottle on your desk so that you’re consistently reminded to drink throughout the day. Take breaks to fill it when it’s empty!
2) Listen to Music
Music is a wonderful thing that can revive even the sleepiest soul. If you’re feeling particularly drained, pop in your headphones and start your favourite go-to playlist that always gets you jazzed. Before you know it, you’ll be nodding your head along to the beat and feeling productive again! If you’re looking for some good pre-made playlists, Spotify has some great options to lift your spirits, like “Mood Booster” or “Good Vibes.”
3) Drink a Smoothie
Smoothies are a great way to get energized! There are tons of recipes out there for smoothies that include things like chia seeds, leafy greens and other stimulating ingredients to give you that extra kick when you need it. Gather your ingredients the night before so that you can easily pop them in the blender in the morning and be ready to go.
And of course – walking! How could this not be on our list? Walking releases endorphins, which in turn increases energy levels. So while you may be tempted to stay seated when you’re feeling tired, it’s actually better to do the exact opposite. 5) Eat a Snack
Last but definitely not least, eat a healthy snack!
